Casino Review: Planet Casino
Planet Casino resolved their problems with piled up complaints by changing their ownership structure. They offer games from three different providers. Read this review to find out more about this casino.
Planet Casino: A Gambling Space Odyssey
Having joined the online gambling community in 2011, Planet Casino is a space-themed online casino which lets you go on a trip to a planet of virtual slot machines, poker tables, and keno lounges. They have a history of neglected complaints, slow payouts, and poor software. However, with the change in management, that has seemingly improved.
With purple as a dominant color, their website has a clean and modern design. On top of that, the functionality of their website is top-notch — you can access all the games straight from the home page, as well as all the important sections, like T&C, Banking, and support. However, they do lack an About Us page.
The website is available in three different languages: English, French, and Italian. Unfortunately, players from nine countries are restricted from playing at this casino, including the residents of the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Alongside its (new) sister casinos, Planet Casino operates under the jurisdiction of the government of Curaçao. Curaçao’s licensing body is not one of the strictest ones out there. Nonetheless, they still require a set of demands to be fulfilled by their licensees. And once casinos obtain Curaçao’s license, they need to maintain a level of professionalism and transparency towards their players. On top of that, they also offer mediation in disputes between players and casinos, should the two parties fail to come to an accord on their own.
Change in Ownership
Planet Casino used to be owned by I-Services N.V. Casinos. However, the change in ownership took place once the Malta-based company Genesys Technology NV acquired the casino. With this, Genesys Technology only added another name to their list of casinos (Black Lotus, Jackpot Wheel, Jupiter Club, just to mention some). This company’s practices differ from one website to another. However, some of them are blacklisted and considered rouge. On the other hand, others (Treasure Mile comes to mind) are reputable casinos which offer fast payouts and haven’t amassed multiple player complaints.
When it comes to Planet Casino, it seems that the new ownership structure was a change for the better. Previously, they had numerous complaints from players who had issues with late and denied withdrawal processes. Also, the casino operated with a limited selection of BetOnSoft games, which were laggy and would often crash.
However, when the new management arrived, they’ve added more providers and changed their attitude and consistency when it came to handling disputes. Several online casino review websites removed them from their blacklists. While you should still be aware of their sketchy past, the improvement you can notice is certainly a plus.
Terms and Conditions
Regarding the terms and conditions they’ve set upon their players, there’s not a lot to cause concern. All of the terms are industry-standard. Unlike many others, they haven’t given themselves room for abuse by sketchy clauses by leaving the wording open for interpretation.
One of the conditions states that if you’re inactive for six months, they will delete your account and keep any balance you have left behind. Inactivity means that, in this period, you haven’t placed a single wager or made any transactions (deposits or withdrawals). Although this allows them to confiscate your money, six months is enough time for players to come and request a withdrawal.
One clause we particularly don’t appreciate states that the player is responsible for regularly checking the terms and conditions for any changes. This means that, if you have an active account, you automatically agree to any updates. Additionally, they don’t notify you of these changes, which means that you need to be on a constant lookout for them.
While they don’t have a history of spamming players, this clause gives them the right to do so. They will use your personal information to tailor their promotional offers according to your activities. The management, using your information and activity log, can spam you with recommendations for their several other casinos, some of which are blacklisted.
Games and Providers
Planet Casino has a relatively limited selection of games. In this casino, you’ll be able to enjoy 229 games, coming from three different providers — Rival Powered, Betsoft, and Saucify. Out of these three, Rival stands out as the best of the bunch. Launched in 2005, this software company offers its customers games which come with immersive sound effects and a functional design appealing to the eye. Rival gained players’ attention with the release of its iSlot games. These are slot machines which, besides the standard spinning reels and paylines, offer a storyline. Players can enjoy betting while completely immersing themselves into a story of a legendary kingdom or some other places of epic fantasy.
Back to Planet Casino. Its library features 229 games and is split into five categories — video and classic slots, table games, video poker, and other games. You can access these games directly in your browser via Instant Play or download a client which allows you to play them from your desktop. Alternatively, they also offer a mobile version of their games (not all of them), which is compatible with most devices.
As you might have expected, the majority of the titles available at this casino are video slots — 156 of them. Video slots have five reels, multiple paylines, and tons of fun. Here, you’ll find some popular titles, such as Throne of Gold, The Slotfather 2, and Arabian Tales. Now, while five-reelers offer more paying options, players also risk more, as the more paylines you select, the more you have to bet. So if you’re into good old three-reelers, Planet Casino offers 17 classic slots. Here, you’ll be able to play games with an original layout of three reels, including Break the Bank, Magnificent 7s, and Rising Sun.
Moving on, you’ll find 12 titles in the ‘table games’ section, including Blackjack, Three-Card Poker, and European Roulette. And when it comes to video poker, there are 34 games in this category. In reality, though, with the exception of Rocket Jacks Poker, there are 11 titles which come in three types — single, ten, and fifty-play modes. Among these, you’ll find popular releases, such as Aces & Faces, Jacks or Better, and Bonus Deuces Wild.
Finally, the last category contains ten games. Here, you can play two scratch card games, while the rest goes on different variants of Keno.
Tournaments and Live Gaming
This casino regularly organizes high roller poker club games where players can compete against each other. Additionally, they have weekly and bi-weekly slot tournaments, which are free of entry fees. The rewards are usually between $400 and $500.
Unfortunately, their game library doesn’t contain any live games.
Before deciding to play for real money, you should know about the various payment methods this casino has on offer. First of all, despite mentioning some others, the only available currencies are EUR, GBP, USD, and CAD.
When it comes to making a deposit, you can use one of the eight options they work with, two of which are credit cards. The minimum deposit you can make is $20, while the maximum money you can add to your balance at once is $1000. Here’s the list of possible depositing options:
- Fast Bank Transfer
As is usually the case, withdrawal options are scarcer. In addition, the minimum withdrawal limit is $100, which is quite steep. You have to have a balance in triple digits if you want to take any money out. Additionally, depending on which option they choose, players can receive only certain currencies. For example, checks are available to all players, but they will only be paid in USD.
And when it comes to weekly maximum withdrawal limits, they differ depending on which tier on the loyalty scheme you belong to. They are as follows:
- Bronze tier: $1500
- Silver tier: $2500
- Gold tier: $3500
- Platinum tier: $5000
Any winnings above these numbers will be sent in installments.
Regarding withdrawal requests, there’s a 48-hour pending time for the casino to accept your request. They also send out payments only on Tuesdays and Fridays. So if you ask for withdrawal on a Monday, you’ll have to wait for five days. Additionally, different methods come with different processing fees and transfer times:
- Credit cards: $15 fee, 6–8 business days
- Courier check: $30, 5 business days
- Check by mail: $15.71, 21 business days
- Bitcoin: no fee, instant
- e-Wallets: no fee, instant
Before checking which promotional offers there are, make sure you’re eligible for them. The casino provides a list of 50 odd countries which are restricted from claiming bonuses. If you reside in one of these countries, you won’t be able to claim any of the promotions.
Planet Casino offers a free $25 no-deposit bonus when you first sign up. You can claim it by typing in the bonus code “launch.” This bonus comes with wagering requirements of 60x, and the withdrawal limit is $100. In fact, the maximum withdrawal limit on all free bonuses is $100. On match bonuses over 100%, that limit is $1000, whereas there’s no limit on bonuses under and equal to 100%.
They also offer an up to $900 welcome bonus which is split between your first three deposits in the following order:
- 100% match bonus up to $200
- 125% match bonus up to $250
- 150% match bonus up to $450
All deposit bonuses come with the same rollover requirement of 60x. For the welcome bonus, Baccarat, Roulette, and Three-Card Poker don’t count towards the playthrough completion. On top of that, bonuses are non-cashable, meaning that the bonus amount received will be removed from your balance upon placing a withdrawal request.
As for the rollover contributions, these vary depending on the game type. Games have the following contribution percentages:
- Slots: 100%
- Scratch card games: 100%
- Keno: 100%
- Roulette: 50%
- Three-Card Poker: 50%
- Baccarat: 25%
- Video Poker: 10%
- Blackjack/Craps: 5%
Finally, Planet Casino runs a comp system for loyal players. 100 comp points equal to $1.
Planet Casino offers 24/7 customer service which you can contact via email address, live chat, or phone number (which is toll-free for the residents of the United States and France).
As we’ve mentioned before, this website used to have a sizeable number of complaints to their name. They had a habit of neglecting them, with most of them remaining unresolved. However, with the change of management, that has changed. Nowadays, you won’t find many complaints online, which is clearly a good sign.
When you try to contact them via live chat, it takes them just a couple of minutes to respond, regardless of the time of the day. However, in our experience, we haven’t found them helpful. They failed to provide an answer to the majority of our queries. Most questions remained unanswered, with their staff giving a generic response that didn’t contain the information requested.
Overall, Planet Casino has seen a positive impact on its reputation once the new owners came in. Their habit of neglecting players’ complaints and disputes went away. Nowadays, you won’t succeed in finding many complaints online. On the other hand, they should work on their selection of gaming titles, especially when it comes to adding live games.
While their terms and conditions are written transparently and without room for abuse, the customer support needs to improve their behavior towards players. Finally, they could have been more generous with their bonuses. Want to find out what they’re like by yourself? Click here to visit Planet Casino.
