Multi-State Lottery Games Set to Launch in Mississippi
Mississippi is set to receive multi-state lottery games as early as next year, following approval from the Multi-State Lottery Association.
In August 2018, the Mississippi House of Representatives voted 58-54 for the Alyce G. Clarke Mississippi Lottery Act, paving the way for the development of a state lottery.
According to the Lottery Corporation president Tom Shaheen, “The sales for games that are only in Mississippi could begin on December 1.”
The body also confirmed that it was given the green light to participate in Mega Millions and Powerball, adding that residents could buy tickets for the jackpot games from 2020.
Before the bill was passed, Mississippi had been one of the six states without a lottery.
