Casino Overview

Planet 7 Casino has around 150 RTG games in its library. The casino, together with its ownership group, has a history of many unresolved complaints. Read this review to learn everything there is to know about this casino.

Planet 7 Casino: A Ten-Year-Old Aiming to Develop

Established in 2009, Planet 7 Casino used its 10 years of existence to develop a reputation of an establishment disrespectful to its customers. In tone with its sister casinos, Planet 7 has tons of online complaints to its name — literally in the thousands.

An ocean of players had trouble with extremely slow payments, with amounts as low as $100 taking over a month to be received. In the last few years, however, the casino decided to address this issue and work on complaints that piled up over the years. Now, you’ll find the majority of them resolved, or at least worked on.

They’ve upgraded their customer service to a level where they actually care about customer concerns. Nevertheless, this doesn’t change the fact that there are thousands of complaints circulating on the Internet, as well as the fact that new ones keep popping up.

The casino provides a list of restricted countries in a PDF file. Some of the countries are outright banned, while many others can join the casino, but are unable to claim promotional offers. Coming as a rarity these days, the casino accepts players from Australia and the United States (excluding residents of Maryland and New York).

As for the website itself, it’s available only in English. They’ve settled for a pretty standard “online casino website” design. With red and yellow as dominant colors, when you enter the home page you won’t see anything out of ordinary — the first thing that grabs your attention is the signup bonus code. After that, there’s a list of games (sadly, they didn’t bother with a search bar, which would take them less than a minute to add).

On the home page, you’ll be able to access all the pages of interest, such as the Terms and Conditions, About Us, Banking, etc. While the navigation of the website cannot be faulted (if we disregard a couple of shortcomings they can work on), transparency is something they should improve.

Transparency

If you take a closer look at the website, you’ll notice that there are some discrepancies in the information provided and what the reality is. For example, they state you can use services of both Neteller and Skrill to make deposits and/or request withdrawals. However, this is not the case anymore. Likewise, you first need to make an account to actually find out that the Players Reward Card is an option, which they haven’t added to the Banking section.

Another thing that causes confusion is the selection of games. If you go through all the different sections of the website, you’ll notice that at some places, they mention up to 220 games. On other pages, they claim to have ‘over 150 games’ in their library. None of the above is correct, as they currently have 147 games. It seems they forgot (or simply didn’t care) to update the information which has changed over time.

Licensing

Nowhere on their website will you be able to find any information regarding their license. Even if you contact customer support, it won’t do you much good — they won’t disclose which license they own. Nonetheless, we’ve done some digging and found out that the casino’s operations fall under the jurisdiction of Costa Rica.

The Costa Rican licensing commission is of a poor standard. The license they give out is an ordinary working license, it doesn’t come with restrictions and regulations specific to gambling. As such, the jurisdictional body doesn’t partake in mediation in disputes between players and casinos. If players feel they’ve been wronged by the casino, the reality is, there’s no-one to turn to. Casinos like Planet 7 use the fact that the Costa Rica license lets you go about your business without having to answer to a government superior.

Lastly, the interesting thing about their licensing is that they offer their services to players from the United Kingdom. To be legally able to do so, you need to possess a license from the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, which they don’t have. Perhaps this doesn’t concern you if you’re not from the UK, but it’s another telltale sign of this casino’s poor practices.

Ace Revenue Group

This casino, along with several others, belongs to the Ace Revenue Group. This ownership group, also known as Virtual Casino Group, has a long track record of running blacklisted casinos. Their casinos implemented several delaying tactics when it came to transferring players’ funds. They would repeatedly ask for the same identification documents, and often fabricate reasons why they declined payments. Many players faced issues of being told they breached bonus conditions, alongside being falsely accused of using multiple accounts.

There’s an extreme example you can find online, in which a player went to their offices in Costa Rica after months of dispute over a lack of payment. There, the customer faced a hostile environment. Allegedly, employees physically attacked them and went as far as to threaten them with death, before forcibly throwing the player out.

Even before they ventured into the world of online gambling, the owner of this group had a run-in with the law. In 1997, they had to serve a prison sentence for attempted defrauding of residential owners out of their properties.

T&Cs Analysis

Before making an account, you need to be aware of all the terms and conditions you automatically accept once you click the ‘sign up’ button. As expected, most of the clauses are industry-standard, as a security measure for any potential issues that might occur. However, there are some that stand out, which you should definitely be aware of.

The first thing that made us raise our eyebrows is the fact that the casino reserves the right to void any winnings, confiscate any balance, and nullify your account if you’re found guilty of professional play. They state that their casino is to be used for entertainment purposes only, and as such, playing as a professional is prohibited.

The issue with this is — they never clarify what they mean with a “professional player”. It is up to their own discretion to decide whether there was any foul play or not. As such, if you just get lucky and earn a lot of money, they can accuse you of playing professionally, providing any given reason. Essentially, this gives them space to work around sending payments.

Additionally, by agreeing to join the casino, you allow the casino to use your personal information (first and last name) and your winning records for promotional use. You cannot decline your name showing up in their PR section of the website and anywhere else, including all over the Internet. Players who cherish the anonymity that comes with online gambling won’t be able to enjoy it here.

Bonus Terms

In the section of the T&C regarding promotions, you’ll find that only one computer per person, household, and shared environment can claim one bonus. While the first two options seem fair, the last one is of an issue. If you are in a facility where computers share a network (workplace, dorm, hotel), you have to claim a certain promotion before someone else does. Run, Forrest, run!

Moreover, when you claim a deposit bonus, any withdrawal request you make afterward needs to be greater than the sum of the deposit and bonus received. In essence, if you make a deposit of $150 and claim a 100% match bonus, you can’t withdraw less than $300.

Finally, look at this condition.

This allows them to change the given terms and conditions on the go without any notice to players. With this in mind, nobody will ask you whether you agree with the changes, nor will they tell you they’ve made the said changes. You need to be on constant alert for minor changes to the T&C section, which they can later abuse.

Games and Providers

Regarding games, we’ve already talked about how the casino seemingly cannot agree with itself on how many games they offer. Nevertheless, the truth is that they have 147 games in their library, split into four categories. All the games are products of RealTime Gaming, a renowned software company which has been around since 1998.

RealTime Gaming—RTG for short—is one of the pioneers when it comes to online gambling software. They can pride themselves with offering games with a clean, sleek design, and great functionality. An independent testing company TST has tried and tested all of the official releases of RTG games, including the ones you’ll find in Planet 7. TST assures players that games operate with an impartial and accurate Random Number Generator. They also offer proof the odds of the games haven’t been tampered with.

One of the features that sets them apart is their networked system of progressive jackpots. This system allows players from different casinos to contribute to the same jackpot. Meaning, jackpots can often go over the $1 million mark. However, Planet 7 Casino doesn’t participate in this progressive jackpot network. Another thing this casino lacks is live gaming and organized poker and slot tournaments.

Game Types

You can access the games via instant play, a downloadable client, or via mobile — in which case you would have a smaller selection of games. The four categories on your disposal are online slots, table games, video poker, and specialty games.

When it comes to slot machines, the majority of the games are of this variety — 113 of them. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the most famous RTG slot games, including Achilles, Aladdin’s Wishes, and Pig Winner. Next to slots, there are 13 table games to play, with titles like Baccarat, Blackjack, and Pai Gow Poker on offer.

Regarding video poker, there are 14 different games you can play. Expectedly, among them are some of the most common video poker titles, such as Deuces Wild, All American Poker, and Jacks or Better. Lastly, they have 7 specialty games. If you enter this category, you’ll be able to test your luck playing Craps, Keno, and both American and European Roulette.

Financial Information

You can play all of the games for free, without ever having to deposit any real money. Once you decide to actually make a deposit, you should learn which depositing and withdrawing options you can utilize. Beware, though, there’s a lot of players who had trouble with slow and no payments.

The only currency this casino accepts is the USD. If you make a deposit in a different currency, they will make a conversion, with the casino not being responsible for exchange rates.

Deposits

There are six payment methods which you can make a deposit with, three of which are credit cards. The lowest amount you can deposit is $20. In the beginning, they limit your maximum deposit amount to $250. They cite security reasons for this, and they state this limit goes away once you become a regular player and prove your identity. Here are all the depositing options with their limits:

  • Visa: $30–$250
  • Mastercard: $30–$250
  • American Express: $30–$250
  • Bitcoin: $20–$100
  • Player Rewards Card: $25–$100
  • Deposit by phone: $30–$250

It’s worth mentioning that the Player Rewards Card is an option only for players coming from the United States and Australia.

Withdrawals

The casino offers fewer options when it comes to requesting withdrawals. On top of that, the limiting factors can be really frustrating. For example, for a request to be approved, it takes the casino 7 business days. After that, there’s a further wait of 7–10 business days to see your funds processed. So, even if you’re lucky, you’ll have to wait for at least 14 business days, which amounts to almost three whole weeks. A lot of players have encountered even longer pending times, with many payment requests lasting over a month.

There’s a $2500 weekly limit, meaning that if you have an amount over that number, they will send you your money in multiple installments. On the other hand, the lowest amount you can request for is $100, so you need your balance to be in triple digits if you want to take out any of your balance.

Planet 7 has three withdrawal options, which come with minimum and maximum limits:

  • Bitcoin: $100–$2500
  • Wire transfer: $100–$2500
  • Bank check: $100–$2500

The casino also states that some of these methods require a $40 processing fee, but they don’t share which ones.

Bonuses

Before we go into more detail, be sure to check out the list of restricted countries. Players from certain countries, although allowed to make an account, are forbidden from claiming any promotional offers.

Now that we’ve covered that, let’s go into the promotions themselves. This section of the casino is their main highlight — they offer great bonuses, probably thanks to the fact they usually don’t bother paying up.

When you decide to make a deposit for the first time, you’ll be able to claim a welcome bonus of a 200% match deposit. The minimum deposit is $30, while they state there’s no maximum deposit rule. The biggest bonus amount you can receive is $20,000. They also claim this bonus has no rollover requirements. Although that’s not completely true, as the bonus has wagering requirements of 1x bonus plus deposit, it’s still a great deal. The only negative is that the bonus is non-cashable. This means that once you request a withdrawal, the amount of money received via bonus will be removed from your bonus. There’s a selection of games that don’t count towards the wagering requirement, but the majority of them do. However, if you play any of the restricted games, they will void any winnings made.

All deposit bonuses have a maximum withdrawal limit of ten times the deposit made. For instance, if you put in $200, the biggest withdrawal you can request is $2000. All of the bonuses are sticky.

No-deposit Bonuses

Most of the free chip offers come as a part of a combined promotion. For example, there’s a bonus which gives you a 300% deposit match bonus, which also includes 30 free spins for the game Fire Dragon. Regarding no deposit bonuses, they come with a playthrough requirement of a 30x bonus plus deposit for slots, Keno, scratch cards, and Bingo. If you play table games or video poker, you’ll need to complete a 60x deposit plus bonus playthrough. Any no-deposit promotion you claim has a maximum withdrawal limit equal to the bonus received (if you claim a $100 bonus, you can’t cash out more than $100).

The casino will also offer rewards to those players who are loyal customers and play frequently. They run a cashback system, whereby you receive comp points every time you play; 100 comp points are equal to $1.

Customer Support

The Planet 7 Casino offers 24/7 customer service, which you can contact via an email address, live chat, or phone call (toll-free for the residents of the United States and Canada). Although the live chat works round the clock, you have to be logged in if you want to contact them. Correspondence without an account isn’t possible via live chat, which is a bit weird.

Regarding live chat, while they are very responsive (it took them under a minute to reply every time we’ve reached out), they need to work on their transparency. They failed to provide an answer to a lot of the requested information. It’s illogical how they can expect of players to hand over their money, when they’re unwilling to share information with their customers.

As we’ve mentioned before, online you can find thousands of complaints about this casino. Most of them revolve about the completion of withdrawal requests. For a long period of time, players received no feedback and their complaints were just gathering electronic dust. However, that has changed recently, and most of the complaints you can find have been either resolved or worked on.

Planet 7 Casino 2

Summary

Despite lacking live gaming and tournaments, this casino still runs a decent selection of RTG games. Players can claim bonuses which you don’t bump into every day. A software minimum of 1x playthrough is required of players before they can cash out.

The major problem with this casino is payment issues. It simply takes way too long. Having to wait at least 14 business days every time you make a withdrawal request is unacceptable. On top of that, they have a history of even longer pending times, and many players saw their withdrawals denied.

While they’ve been working on improving their reputation, their shady ownership group and a huge number of complaints should represent enough of a reason for players to avoid them. Click here to visit the casino and check it out on your own.
