When state troopers confronted a woman in the wee hours of Sunday at MGM Springfield, they didn’t expect to see a familiar face.

Until Sunday, Marian Sullivan was known in Springfield for being the communications director of Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. However, after her outburst, residents will probably be inclined to remember Sullivan for her act of vandalism at MGM Springfield.

State troopers responded to a 3 a.m. call from the casino resort, alleging that the young woman was causing property damage in the restaurant. When they arrived at the scene, the 27-year-old had already moved to the parking garage where she was vandalizing the vehicles.

Sullivan was allegedly inebriated during the incident, with police officers arresting her and taking her to the State Police barracks, so she could sleep it off. Since then, she has been released and informed to appear at her arraignment.

The mayor’s office issued a press release, confirming that Sullivan was suspended from her job until further notice, with Sarno adding he was “shocked and disturbed” by the incident.

Sullivan used to be an intern at MGM Springfield in 2014.
