Workers of Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park are set to stage their first worker strike, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In 2017, the casino entertainment company Eldorado Resorts bought Isle of Capri Casinos for $1.7 billion, accepting the gambling operator’s debt. Since the acquisition, around 80 employees have been dismissed.
The labor union UNITE HERE Local 355 stated that 93% of workers at the gambling venue voted for the strike, resulting from their dissatisfaction with layoffs and reduction in amenities.
The news about the potential strike came after UNITE HERE President D. Taylor expressed his concerns about Eldorado-Caesars merger as the combined company was set to save $500 million in the first year.
In June, Eldorado released a statement, confirming its acquisition of Caesars for $17.3 billion.
Following the deal, UNITE HERE has warned about wage cuts and possible layoffs that the transaction could bring about.
