When one Missouri bartender went to work on October 19 she didn’t know she would receive a five-figure tip in the form of a lottery ticket.
Bleachers Bar in O’Fallon is a regular haunt of a patron who periodically purchases lottery tickets for other visitors. One Saturday at the bar wasn’t any different — everyone received a ticket.
The bar’s employee Taylor Russey was one of those who got the ticket, but she didn’t realize she held $50,000 in her hands until the lottery terminal informed the staff that the winning ticket was sold at the bar.
“I was like, ‘Guys, who won all this money and didn’t tell anybody?’” Russey said to the Lottery officials.
Little did she know that she won the prize.
Russey went to scan her ticket, realizing she got a five-figure payout which she could claim at the Lottery’s office.
The Missouri Lottery revealed that Russey’s prize was the 40th valued at $50,000 in the state, and the second winning ticket purchased in O’Fallon this year.
