SugarHouse Casino, one of Philadelphia’s key gambling venues, will soon change its name, with the property set to undergo many more upgrades.
In 2006, the gaming complex obtained a license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, building the first commercial gambling venue in this region. The property’s official opening was in 2010.
The CEO of SugarHouse Casino and Rush Street Gaming Greg Carlin declared that the venue would go by the name of Rivers Casino Philadelphia soon.
Further reflecting on the decision, Carlin stated that Rush Street’s plan was to establish a unified brand for all of its betting operations.
In addition to the new name, the official statement reveals significant updates, including a permanent sportsbook, restaurant, and an online gaming experience that will complement the land-based operations.
News about this planned rebranding came after the casino embarked on a $164 million expansion in 2016, which saw the property’s size increase from 90,000 square feet to 260,000 square feet.
