San Diego Woman Claims $522M Lottery Ticket

A San Diego woman came forward with her $522 million lottery ticket on Tuesday, claiming it from the California Lottery.

In June, Laarni Bibal purchased a $2 Mega Millions ticket at Sorrento Deli-Mart. She opted for computer-selected random pick, with 2 being the Mega number. The day after the drawing, Laarni found that the winning ticket was bought at the same store.

“My heart started beating really fast!” Bibal told state lottery officials. With the prize now claimed, the winner plans to pay off debt and purchase a new house.

While waiting to obtain the money, she said that she kept the ticket in “a secret hiding place,” refusing to disclose where it was.

Bibal opted for the cash option of $340 million.
