Presque Isle Downs & Casino is set to launch its sports betting facility soon in Erie, reveals Pennsylvania news outlet GoErie.
In early February, the gambling venue, operated by Churchill Downs Inc, obtained a license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), intending to launch a sportsbook.
Four months later, Presque Isle Downs & Casino is yet to go live with the facility, while a few of its competitors, including Valley Forge Casino, were able to do so within around two months after getting their licenses.
GoErie published a story stating that construction workers were seen at the property while building the metal frame for a sportsbook.
In an interview with the newspaper, a spokesperson for the company Bauer Specialties, which was chosen to build the facility, said that they expected to conclude all work by Wednesday.
The new facility will reportedly spread across 1,275 square feet, covering an area that had been previously reserved for slot machines. They will be featured on another part of the gaming floor.
Casino officials are yet to give a timeframe for the launch of their sportsbook.
