The website of the Oregon Lottery was down on Tuesday, just days after the officials revealed that sports betting app Scoreboard would have a $250,000 deposit limit, reports the local news outlet the Oregon Live.
Since August, patrons have been expecting Scoreboard’s release, with the Lottery officials confirming that it would be launched on October 16. Although the anticipation is mounting, the officials do not have any indications that the website troubles and the app release are correlated.
Oregon Lottery spokesman Chuck Baumann disclosed that they were still investigating the reason for the site crash while confirming that the app was just “days away” from becoming available.
Certain news outlets, including the local Willamette Week, indicated that Scoreboard would see the light of day on Wednesday, but the launch is yet to happen.
At first, the Lottery expected to accept sports wagers in time for the NFL season, but Lincoln City-based Chinook Winds beat the Lottery to it, opening a sportsbook in late August.
Once launched, Scoreboard will accept wagers on professional sports just as long as players are located within the state.
The Oregon Lottery estimated that Scoreboard would produce a net profit of $37 million in the first three years.
