Mohegan Sun Sues Ottawa Senators Owner

Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun filed a lawsuit against Eugene Melnyk, the owner of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, citing $900,000 in bounced checks.

In 2017, Melnyk’s bank rejected five payment drafts he issued to Mohegan Sun. The Canadian subsequently accumulated a $900,000 debt.

Mohegan Sun requested that the pharmaceutical billionaire repays his debt in a legal claim submitted to New London Superior Court. The casino is also seeking to get $15,000 in “damages, costs, and interest.”

Melnyk’s lawyer Sheldon Plener says that he is looking for a “swift result” to the dispute.

According to Forbes magazine, Eugene Melnyk’s net worth is estimated at $1.21 billion.
