The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) has fined an Altoona casino for permitting an underage man to gamble and drink alcohol in breach of the state law in April.
The IRGC August report shows that Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino employees neglected to prohibit a 19-year-old man from accessing the gaming floor, who then “for over an hour, gambled, and consumed alcohol.”
Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino paid a $20,000 fine for its negligence.
Iowa residents have to be at least 21 years old to gamble.
In July 2018, the IRGC penalized the casino resort for the same oversight. The staff failed to ask a 20-year-old woman to show her ID, enabling her to engage in gambling for three hours.
