Mobile sports betting is going live in Indiana, with gaming company Rush Street Interactive and French Lick Casino being the first to offer digital wagering.
Retail sportsbooks in Indiana opened on September 1, just days before the NFL season began, leading to speculations on the launch date of mobile betting. The Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) ended the speculations on Wednesday, confirming it will go live on October 3.
“Rush Street has substantially demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Commission that its mobile sports wagering operations meets the requirements of Indiana Code Article 4-38, the Commission’s Emergency Regulations, and all Commission Directives related to sports wagering activities,” said the IGC’s Executive Director Sara Gonso Tait.
The Chicago-based gaming company has been managing a sportsbook at French Lick Casino since September 6. The partners stated that the upcoming mobile betting platform would include all types of sports wagering available at the retail facility.
Residents can access the app within Indiana; however, unlike in Iowa, they aren’t required to register an account at French Lick beforehand.
Prospective gamblers must be 21 years or older to start wagering.
Indiana has made a move toward online betting at the time when its four neighboring states — Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan — are yet to legalize it.
