An ice hockey player has 500,000 reasons to stay out of Las Vegas what with a lawsuit filed Monday, alleging he incurred a six-figure gambling debt at a casino resort, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is suing Evander Kane for allegedly neglecting to settle a $500,000 debt, arising from casino markers the gambling venue gave to him in April.
The lawsuit claims the San Jose Sharks player received eight credits, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, while playing at the casino resort. Gambling markers are interest-free loans issued to high-level patrons, giving them access to bigger amounts of money.
The Las Vegas-based venue is also seeking reimbursement for legal fees that will ensue because of the lawsuit.
Ironically, around the time the Cosmopolitan issued the casino markers, Evander Kane was in the city to play against the Golden Knights.
