Hossein Ensan emerged first at the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, taking home $10 million.
On Wednesday, the 55-year-old poker player contested in eight hours of play at the final table, competing with Italian Dario Sammartino. The two participated in a total of 100 hands against each other in the course of heads-up action.
During the final hand, the German player had a pair of kings with Sammartino going all-in with a flush draw and a straight draw. However, Ensan’s kings prevailed, and the runner-up received $6 million.
In an interview with ESPN, Ensan described his win as “unbelievable.” He added that this was a “big” prize in his career.
Ensan is the oldest bracelet winner ever since 1999 when Irish Noel Furlong obtained it at age 61.
