Florida Resident Wins $10,000 a Week for Life Game

A Tampa man won $8.4 million by playing Florida’s $10,000 a Week for Life scratch-off game.

The Florida Lottery launched the game in 2018, announcing it would include more than ten million winning tickets.

Lottery officials revealed Thursday that Evangelos Halkias became the most recent winner after buying the ticket at a local 7-Eleven. The store is set to receive a $20,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The 49-year-old has decided to accept a lump-sum payout of $8.4 million.

Around 98% of the lottery’s revenue goes towards education and the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Since 1988, the lottery has contributed more than $35 billion to education.
