The new year is just around the corner, and it already looks like it’s going to be a pretty promising one for the gambling industry! Experts and analysts are predicting the rise of Blockchain casinos and the use of virtual reality to provide players with the quintessential gaming experience. So if you’re big on internet gambling, 2020 won’t disappoint you at all!
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the future doesn’t look bright for fans of land-based casinos. So just breathe a sigh of relief if we had you worried there for a second! From a $4 billion new casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip to gambling on a cruise ship — 2020 will satisfy all of your cravings and make you want to return for more.
So let’s look at what operators from the USA, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, and Canada are preparing for us in 2020!
New Gambling Venues in the US
Market research company TechNavio predicts that the U.S. gambling industry revenue is going to amount to $93 billion by 2020. Undoubtedly, the prospect of taking a small portion of that money encourages gaming operators to expand across the states. However, if they want to produce revenue, they need to come up with some ideas which will attract players to their venues over and over again. Let’s just see what they have in store for us!
Pennsylvania
You can sip your drink and bond with your family and friends while ringing in the new year, but why should the festivities stop there? Well, it seems that Cordish Companies believes they shouldn’t what with them opening Live! Hotel and Casino Philadelphia on January 1. So if you’re in the area, you can head to their $150 million worth casino resort and see if 2020 is your lucky year!
The idea of a Philadelphia-based casino emerged back in 2004 when Pennsylvania first permitted casinos. However, it didn’t come to fruition for over ten years, but then, Cordish Companies took the stage and promised to build a casino around an existing Holiday Inn hotel.
And that’s precisely what they’re doing!
The company is working around the clock to bring the ultimate gambling experience to its visitors. They even secured a sports betting license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on October 30.
Live! Hotel and Casino is going to feature more than 100 table games, 2,000 slot machines, and 33 poker tables. It will be open 24/7 for visitors.
California
The Keystone State won’t be the only one vying for our attention in the new year. Namely, California also has a new casino up its sleeve — Agua Caliente Cathedral City — which is expected to open on January 3.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the casino on November 4, promising to speed up the construction process, thus providing gamblers with something to look forward to in 2020. Spanning 65,000 square feet, the tribal casino will include 500 gaming machines, including slots and roulette.
Nevada
Las Vegas isn’t the U.S. gambling capital for nothing! And with the increase in gross gaming revenue and booming tourism, it’s not difficult to see why other cities can’t come close to our entertainment capital. So what is Sin City preparing for us in the new year? Believe it or not, as many as two casino resorts!
Resorts World Casino Las Vegas
If we had to pick the crown jewel of new casinos in 2020, then we would, without any hesitation, choose Resorts World Casino. After all, the world doesn’t receive $4 billion worth megaresorts every day!
The construction of the over 100,000-square-feet building began in late 2017 on the site that once hosted the Stardust Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. News outlets report that we’re finally going to get a closer look inside the megaresort on November 1.
Once completed, the venue will have more than 3,000 gaming machines and 200 table games. The main table game at Resorts World will be baccarat.
Circa Resort & Casino
And Fremont Street won’t be missing out in 2020 either! The popular location will receive Circa Resort & Casino. And there’s a reason to be excited! Namely, many years have passed since downtown Las Vegas boasted a state-of-the-art building! To mark this milestone, the owners are investing $1 billion in the project.
Circa will be incorporated as a part of the Fremont Street Experience — the center of entertainment and gaming in downtown Las Vegas. It’s going to include a two-level casino, featuring both table games and slots.
For years, casino operators have been wary of split-level casinos. But Circa’s owners, Derek and Greg Stevens, are sure this new concept will be a success among gambling aficionados. The brothers have also decided to bring sports betting to the new venue.
This Las Vegas casino will finally start welcoming patrons in December.
Malaysia
What do you get when you cross a cruise ship and a casino? A Crusino!
That’s right — in 2020, we’re all going to be able to play casino games on the high seas. Just imagine this: we can take a breather from gambling by soaking up the sun and marveling that we’re alive at a time when we have the opportunity to do something like this!
The $560 million project is slated to commence its voyage in April. Crusino will accept as many as 3,200 passengers: flaunting luxurious restaurants, a library, fitness center, and much more in front of them!
What’s more, the owner, Podiumspot Capital Group, promises Crusino will be the largest gambling venue on the sea which provides both table and electronic games. And the surprises don’t stop there! Players will also have a chance to take part in live casino games from the comfort of their rooms! Not too shabby, huh?
South Korea
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority decided to capitalize on its success in the USA and expand into a new market. For this occasion, they choose South Korea.
In partnership with Incheon International Airport Corporation, the tribal operator is going to bring a megaresort to this country at the beginning of 2020. The gaming venue will span 20,000 square meters, featuring more than 1,000 slots and 200 gaming tables.
Not only that, but the owners have also promised that Inspire won’t be like any other Asian integrated resort. Well, we guess we’ll be the judge of that as soon as the venue opens!
Russia
The Russian Federation has four zones where players can legally gamble, and one of them is the Primorye Gambling Zone. Located near Vladivostok, Primorye covers 640 hectares and is the home of popular Tigre de Cristal Hotel & Resort.
However, Tigre won’t be a lone wolf anymore what with the government agreeing to add Naga Vladivostok — a $350 million casino resort. Naga Vladivostok is paramount for Russia as it strives to build a new Macau in its Far East.
The venue is set to become the biggest resort in this region. However, the gaming operator NagaCorp is yet to provide more details on what the casino will offer. The property is finally set to open in late 2020.
Canada
Our last casino resort on the list is going to open on June 1 in British Columbia, Canada. This project, which is costed at $70 million, was approved in 2018, with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation giving the go-ahead to Gateway Casinos & Entertainment to start the construction work this year.
Upon completion, Cascades Casino Delta will have 500 slot machines and 24 table games. It’s also going to boast a range of famous restaurants from Gateway, including The Buffet. Sounds delicious, right?
Future Looks Bright!
Gambling is sure to be taking the world by storm in 2020! The number of brick-and-mortar casinos is only increasing, which goes to show just how popular this activity is around the globe. So why don’t you enjoy what’s left of this year and prepare to indulge yourself in all that 2020 will bring to the casino industry!
