Frenchman Thomas Cazayous won his first gold bracelet at the 50th WSOP, receiving a $414,766 prize.
The 24-year-old poker player took part in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed, facing US player Nicholas Howard at the final table, where he showed a calm attitude. The runner-up received $256,314 in prize money.
Cazayous prevailed over 754 participants. During the tournament, he earned the nickname of “The Silent Assassin.”
While reflecting on the win, Cazayous said that he was “very confident” during the tournament, even though he was up against “good players.” The winner concluded that he did not want to describe himself as the best but that he was confident enough to know what he needed to do.
The final table included some veteran WSOP players, including former winners Angel Guillen and Upeshka De Silva. The two participants finished fifth and third for a combined total of $255,384.
