Meta description: A RealTime Gaming casino, Reel Spin used to be a reputable website prior to the change in ownership. Read our in-depth review to find out everything about this US-friendly casino.

Reel Spin Casino: An Old-Timer Unable to Keep Up

Founded in 2013, Reel Spin Casino went from a reputable casino to one not to be trusted. Many casino review websites state the casino is no longer open. However, that isn’t true — it just switched domains. They offer casino games from RealTime Gaming, with just under 200 games available.

A major issue with this casino is a discrepancy in the available information. You’ll see different answers in different sections. For example, when you visit the Games page, you’ll find 137 games listed, but once you create an account, there will be 197 of them. On top of that, the casino itself states they have 110 games. And this doesn’t only happen with games.

There’s a list of ten restricted countries, including Australia, Costa Rica, and the United Kingdom. Players from the United States are allowed to create an account and play for real money. The only available language is English. When you enter the website, you’ll be greeted with an amazing design. If you’re into Internet antiquities, that is.

The website is outdated, with a look that the majority of the web moved on from in the mid-2000s. There’s free space on either side, with all of the content in a centered block — the starting layout everybody learns to make in a 2-week HTML course.

As you’d expect, the navigation is also lacking. The first thing that will strike you is that there’s no signup button on the homepage, something which usually flashes when you enter an online casino website. To create an account, you need to go to the Instant Play page first, which you can find at the bottom of the homepage. Likewise, other sections, such as FAQ, exist but are also not accessible from the landing page.

Change in Management

Reel Spin Casino was once a part of Club World Casinos, a group of nine casinos, all of which offered great service and professionalism towards their players and affiliate partners. Things changed for the worse in 2016. Three brothers owned the group. After a dispute and court action, the elder two managed to remove the youngest one from the position of CEO and changed the name to BeSoftware N.V. The youngest one was the only one with the experience of running online casinos.

As those who remained in charge lacked the know-how, they rightfully decided to hire outside advisors. The problem was the choice. They associated themselves with AffPower, a group notorious for running rogue casinos. They have a history of neglected complaints, operating with pirated software, and shaving commissions. To those unfamiliar with this term, shaving commissions means they reported false numbers in order to pay less money to their affiliate partners who promoted their websites and brought new customers in. If they screwed their partners, why wouldn’t they screw you?

It’s always a sad sight to see a once-great casino fall into the wrong hands. It seems that acceptable options for US players grow fewer by the day.

Casinos belonging to BeSoftware N.V, including Reel Spin, work with a license from the country of Curaçao. The most common regulatory body from this country is Curaçao eGaming. Reel Spin Casino, however, owns a master license from a licensing commission called Gaming Curaçao. The difference between these two companies is unclear, as they both seemingly belong to Curaçao’s government, and the requirements for obtaining a license are virtually the same.

Curaçao’s licensing body does not represent one of the greatest jurisdictions a casino can belong to. Nevertheless, they still have a set of high demands casinos need to fulfill in order to become a licensee. Once they acquire the license, they need to remain up to standard if they wish to avoid their license being revoked. The commission also offers mediation in disputes if the player and the casino fail to solve an issue on their own.

Terms and Conditions

There’s an issue with transparency when it comes to the terms and conditions Reel Spin Casino imposes on their customers. The problem is, it’s simply not thorough enough. Many of the industry-standard terms are missing, and a lot of situations are left unexplained. This gives a lot of room for the casino to make decisions on the go and interpret any possible situation how it suits them.

Most of the clauses focus on banking and bonus conditions. For example, look at this:

Let’s not think about grammatical errors for a second. If you make a deposit with a credit card and make a profit playing, they will put you through a tedious process of splitting the withdrawal into different paying methods. That’s not a standard procedure, it’s just a needless complication. They can also change your payment method of choice if it’s convenient for them.

Furthermore, the casino has given itself the right to update the terms and conditions at any point without notice. This means that you automatically agree to any of the changes. As a result, you have to regularly check for any alterations in order to avoid a predatory clause.

While a short T&C is easy to go through, it’s not ideal as there are a lot of gray areas where players cannot know what is expected of them and of the casino. For instance, they nowhere state they might use your personal information for promotional purposes, such as publishing your name next to a big win you get. But when you enter their homepage, it’s obvious they do do that.

Games and Providers

Games Reel Spin

Reel Spin Casino offers, in their own words, “over 110 games.” But how much is that exactly? You see, as we’ve mentioned before, there’s an issue with this casino’s lack of consistency in the information they provide. When you go to the Games section, you’ll be able to count only 137 games. However, upon creating an account, you’ll find a library of 197 games. It’s weird they chose to advertise a lower number. It seems like they’ve added new games but haven’t bothered changing that in the Games section.

Another sign of this being an outdated casino is that they prioritize downloading a client. Yes, Instant Play is available, but they focus on downloads. For example, they explain the signup process via the client’s interface. Mobile version of the website is also available, but there you’ll find a limited amount of games — around 100.

The casino operates with the software from RealTime Gaming. Having been around since 1998, they’ve been in the business of providing online gaming software since the early stages of this industry. RTG games come with high functionality, pleasing graphics, and satisfying sound effects. One of the features which distinguish RealTime Gaming from its competitors is its networked system of progressive jackpots. Progressive jackpots rise after each round played. With this system, players from various casinos contribute to the same pot, which allows popular games to reach amazing heights, often going above the $1-million mark. Reel Spin Casino takes part in this network.

Game Selection

For the sake of further description of the casino, we’ll treat the information which says there are 197 games as true. The games are split into five categories — slots, table games, progressives, video poker, and specialty games.

As expected, more than half of it are slot machines. Here, you’ll find 119 of them, with classic three-reelers on offer as well as five-wheel video slots. You can play some of the most popular RTG releases, such as Achilles, Asgard, and Bubble Bubble. Next in line are table games. There are 15 such games, as you can access several variants of Blackjack as well as Let ‘Em Ride, Pontoon, and Pai Gow Poker.

Moving on, we come to the video poker section. There are 56 games in this category. However, if you look more closely, you’ll see that there are actually 14 games, but they all come in four different playing options — single-, triple-, ten-, and 52-hand modes. You’ll find some of the most popular video poker titles, such as Bonus Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, and Joker Poker. Finally, the casino contains seven specialty games — Craps, Keno, and Roulette (both American and European), to name a few.

The progressives section consists of six games, which you can find in the aforementioned categories as well. At the time of writing, Aztec’s Millions offered a jackpot prize of over $3 million, while Megasaur and Spirit of the Inca stood at around $900,000 and $300,000, respectively.

Finally, they don’t have any live games in their library, nor do they organize any tournaments.

Financial Information

Before creating an account, you should also know which deposit and withdrawal methods they offer and what conditions they come with. The only available currency is the US dollar, and the casino doesn’t take responsibility for exchange rates. As is the case with the game selection, you’ll find information inconsistencies here as well.

There are seven payment methods you can choose from when you wish to make a deposit. Five of them, though, are credit and debit cards. Here’s the full list:

  • Visa
  • Visa Debit
  • Visa Electron
  • Maestro
  • MasterCard
  • EcoPayz
  • Bitcoin

All of the transactions happen instantly and are free of charge. They also share minimum and maximum deposit limits, which stand at $35–$1,000.

When you make a withdrawal request, there’s an approval period of 48 business hours for the casino to review your request and accept it. On top of that, there are processing times, which vary depending on the method you choose. As we’ve already said, if possible, they’ll send you money via the method you’ve used for depositing. Also, they’ll split your winnings over two different methods if you use credit cards.

Here’s where we encounter further misinformation. For example, on the Cashier page, they state the minimum withdrawal you can make via EcoPayz is $20. However, when you make an account, you’ll see it’s actually $35. Also, despite their saying it happens instantly, EcoPayz takes 24 business hours to process your funds.

It doesn’t end there. For instance, depending on which page of the casino you’re reading, bank wire transfers take either 2 business days, or 5–7 business days. It’s hard to decide what to believe when both pieces of information come from the same source. The same happens with Bitcoin; they say it takes both 1 and 2 business days.

Lastly, when we contacted customer support, they told us that Neteller is also an option, but we couldn’t find it anywhere.

Methods and Limits

Although this information is not available from the off (you need to create an account to find out), some of the methods come with a processing fee — wire transfer and courier check cost $25. Here’s the list of all the withdrawal options, together with their minimum and maximum limits, as well as their processing times:

  • Bank wire transfer: $30–$5,001, 5–7 business days
  • Courier check: $350–$2,500, 5–7 business days
  • Bitcoin: $100–$2,500, 2 business days
  • EcoPayz: $35–$5,001, 24 business hours

As you can see, half of these options allow you to take out $5,000 a time. However, that’s not true, since there’s a weekly withdrawal limit of $4,000. If you request a withdrawal north of this figure, they’ll pay out only $4,000. As opposed to the standard practice of paying the rest in installments, they will return the rest to your balance, forcing you to make another request in a week’s time.

Bonuses Reel Spin

Reel Spin Casino’s promotions are nothing to get excited about. When you first open an account, you’ll be able to claim a welcome bonus of a 100% match of your first deposit up to $888. There’s no maximum cashout limit and the wagering requirements that you have to complete stand at 30x the amount of bonus and deposit combined. Furthermore, the bonus is sticky, which means you can’t take it out. So, if you receive $888 in bonus money, they will remove this amount from your balance before you can make a withdrawal. You can claim this bonus only once.

Daily Bonuses

Other bonuses are tied to a certain day in the week, and you can claim them only then. For instance, on Wednesdays, you can claim the Strictly Confidential promotion, which gives you three bonus codes for 50%, 60%, and 65% match up to $3,000 ($1,000 each). These have a wagering requirement of 25x bonus plus deposit, and you can redeem them five times per code. Monday Blues Blaster gives you a 55% match bonus of up to $1,000, and it comes with the same conditions as Strictly Confidential, the difference being you can claim it an unlimited number of times.

During Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, you can claim Weekend Windfall. This bonus bundle offers four different codes. First of all, you can claim a 70% match deposit up to $1,000, which is reserved only for slot games. FRI60 will give you a 60% match, available only on Friday. Likewise, SAT65 and SUN70 give you a 65% and 70% match, respectively. They all go up to $1,000, can be claimed five times, and have wagering requirements of 25x bonus plus deposit. Finally, if you claim all three daily bonuses, you can get a $10 free bonus.

There are also promotions for other individual weekdays, capping the number of available bonuses at six.

Bonus T&C

To be eligible for a deposit bonus, you need to deposit at least $35. For free spins, although they’re a free bonus, you need to make at least a $50 deposit to be able to claim them.

All bonuses, both deposit and no deposit ones, are sticky. Here, again, we come across conflicting information. One clause says that non-deposit bonuses have a maximum cashout limit set at five times the bonus amount received. Just a couple of sentences later, they state the maximum cashout limit for no deposit bonuses is ten times the bonus. Again, there’s no point in arguing who’s right, when the author’s the same.

There’s also this clause you should be aware of:

What this means is that they keep deposited funds and bonus money separated, and you first go through your own cash. Say you get a 100% match of $100 — you’ll have a balance of $200. If you go through the WRs and end up with $100, you won’t be able to take anything out, since that would be the bonus balance, and the bonus is, as we’ve already said, non-cashable.

Additionally, not all games have the same contribution towards fulfilling the wagering requirements. They come with different weightings. For example, for every $10 wagered on roulettes, the casino will count $1 of completed WR. Here’s the list of games with their weightings:

  • Slots, Keno, and Scratch Cards: 100%
  • Roulette: 10%
  • Casino poker games: 25%
  • Video Poker: 20%
  • 21 Games, Blackjack, Baccarat, War: 10%
  • Craps, Sic Bo: 10%

Finally, there’s a timeframe of 30 days during which you need to complete the rollover requirements. Should you fail to do so, they will void your bonus funds and winnings.

Customer Support

Reel Spin Casino offers 24/7 customer support which you can get in touch with via email, live chat, or phone number, which is toll-free for the residents of the United States. Our experience with them was pleasant since we’ve been in contact with friendly and responsive staff — they always responded within minutes. They were happy to offer all the information we needed, giving clear answers to all our queries. The one thing we can complain about is their mention of Neteller availability, which proved not to be true.

As for the complaints, a lot of them disappeared when the casino changed the domain, and most people assumed they were no longer active. As stated at the beginning, the casino was credible and reputable in its opening few years. However, with the change in management and partnership with the rogue AffPower group, their reputation took a hit, and players can’t trust them any longer.

Reel Spin Casino is an RTG-powered casino which accepts players from the United States. They have a game selection of around 200 games, but they lack tournaments and games with a live dealer. Depending on which withdrawal method you choose, you will wait from 3 to 9 business days before you get your funds. Depositing options are not that plentiful, and most of them are credit cards.

The website is something they definitely should work on as the design is outdated, and the navigation is far from being top-notch. Furthermore, there’s a problem with reliability, as you can stumble upon a lot of conflicting information. Their reputation has gone south since they affiliated themselves with the wrong crew.

All in all, there are better options around, and you should definitely seek to take your gambling elsewhere. Anyway, if you wanted to give them a look, click here to visit the casino.
