‘Mattress Mack’ Wagers Another $1M on Astros
Texas businessman ‘Mattress Mack’ wagered Friday another $1.05 million on the Houston Astros’ victory in the World Series in New Jersey.
Jim McIngvale made the headlines in early October when he placed a $3.5 million bet on the Astros at The DraftKings Sportsbook in Mississippi, with the bookmaker’s officials calling it the “biggest bet” in the state’s history.
On Friday, McIngvale separated the seven-figure wager into four parts, distributing them between two sportsbooks — Unibet and William Hill.
At Unibet, the businessman placed two wagers. He bet $100,000 at +210 odds on the team to triumph in the World Series. The other wager was $150,000 at -152 odds on the Astros to be victorious in Game 3.
He didn’t stop there though.
‘Mattress Mack’ arrived at William Hill where officials accepted $300,000 at +210 odds on the baseball team to win the Fall Classic. The last bet amounted to $500,000 at -140 odds on the team’s win in Game 3.
The Houston Astros beat the Washington Nationals in Game 3, securing McIngvale an over $450,000 payout.
