Golden Nugget iGaming Set to Earn More Revenue than Land-Based Casino
Golden Nugget Atlantic City might become the first casino in the U.S. gaming industry whose digital gambling revenue matches or surpasses its retail revenue.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reports showed that the difference between the Marina District casino’s online and land-based revenue was less than $3.5 million in four of the five months of this year.
February was the only month when retail revenue was $5.2 million more than from iGaming.
Thomas Winter, Golden Nugget Senior Vice President and General Manager of Online Gaming, touched upon the recent figures, stating that they were the result of the casino’s focus on the New Jersey market. He added that the casino resort got an advantage over its rivals as they focused on multiple jurisdictions.
PlayNJ.com analyst Steve Ruddock commented on the possibility of Golden Nugget making history this year stressing that it came as no surprise, claiming it was inevitable that online gaming revenue would exceed that of land-based. He also said that the internet win might surpass retail earnings by October.
Golden Nugget Atlantic City offers online gambling through Play SugarHouse, BetAmerica, and Betfair Casino platforms.
